Our red McCarthy Bar logo and the “Dude” logo mark are McCarthy Building Companies, Inc.’s most recognizable images, signifying our exceptional workmanship and enduring strength. By having the logos legally registered as trademarks and using them properly, it not only demonstrates our pride in ownership but also provides legal protection, enhances recognition, and sets us apart from competitors, safeguarding our brand identity.

In 2024, the registration mark on logos was edited to enhance trademark acknowledgment and protection. Existing materials might still show the old mark. However, for new items, it’s crucial to use updated logo files to ensure consistency and legal compliance.

Bar
The McCarthy Bar is our primary logo, featuring a custom-designed typeface exclusive to McCarthy. It is presented in white-on-McCarthy red (Pantone 199C) for utmost legibility and instant recognition in various sizes. It’s important to note that it is not acceptable to use McCarthy type alone without the McCarthy Bar (white on red format) and it violates our legal trademark. Do use the McCarthy Bar in all instances where a company logo is needed. Use of the Dude logo mark is optional.
Dude Logo
The custom-designed “Dude” logo was introduced in 1991 and has become synonymous with the McCarthy brand. The logo’s design makes it easy to use in many applications and it always commands attention. Any deviation from the standard form detracts from its distinctiveness, instant recognition and violates the trademark. The use of the Dude logo is optional. The McCarthy Bar should appear on all company pieces.

Logo Unit
The Logo Unit combines the Dude logo directly on top of or to the right of the McCarthy Bar without any space between them, creating a single unit. Special artwork has been created for this specific logo usage.
Always use the approved files found on WebDAM, without altering them in any way and ensuring there is clearance space around each logo.
Do not obstruct, modify, distort, add to or take away from the approved logos.
DO’s
- Do find and use the approved, pre-generated files.
- Do use the full-color version of the logo(s).
- Do include the registered trademark symbol with every usage of the logo.
- Do maintain specified clearance space around the logo(s).
- Do ensure clear legibility for the intended audience.
- Do always include the bar with the McCarthy type and the outline with the Dude logo, ensuring correct representation of our trademark.
- Do position the Dude logo to the right in the horizontal version of the logo unit.
- Do use the black and white version of the McCarthy Bar only on a red background.
DON’Ts
- Don’t obstruct, modify or distort the logo.
- Don’t add patterns or alter the logo colors.
- Don’t reduce the opacity/tint or add special effects to the logo.
- Don’t include other text, visuals or logos with these logos.
- Don’t rearrange, resize or make additions to the logo.
- Don’t use the McCarthy type alone.
- Don’t use the Dude logo on a black background.
- Don’t use any of our logos as an icon (to visually represent an object, action, concept or idea). See Iconography for alternative ideas.
